I went to google to look up:  What does it mean to be in bondage to sin? . . . and I found this link:

The Slavery, Bondage and Controlling Power of Sin . . . http://www.evangelicaloutreach.org/sin.htm

The teaching from the video is:  Many think that wallowing in the fact that we're sinners is the natural state of Christianity.  This is false - We are slaves to righteousness!  See Romans 6 . . .

I had shame and guilt over sin, then I learned that if I'm in repentance, God doesn't want that.

How can we experience true freedom in Christ? . . . http://www.gotquestions.org/freedom-in-Christ.html

Although it seems like a contradiction, the only true freedom in Christ comes to those who are His slaves. Slavery has come to mean degradation, hardship and inequality. But the biblical paradigm is the true freedom of the slave of Christ who experiences joy and peace, the products of the only true freedom we will ever know in this life.

Mt 18:3 And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
What does this verse mean?  What is it talking about?
Children believe what they're told.  An adult is too stubborn to believe.
Children believe quickly, they believe easily, without reservation.  They trust - God is who He says He, Jesus is who He says He is.
It's surprising how many times Jesus rebuked the disciples for their lack of faith:  "Oh ye of little faith"
After the resurrection, the disciples didn't believe Mary.  Jesus was mad with them.  They had been walking with Him, and seen the miracles, He warned them he'd die, and be resurrected.

In the end, we will all have to give an account of our life to God:

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! . . . . . Ro 6:20-21

You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister?  Or why do you treat them with contempt?  For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat.  It is written:  “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”  So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God . . . . . Ro 14:10-12

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account . . . . . Heb 4:13

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children . . . . . Hos 4:6

If we get some kind of emotional hurt, or abuse, that emotion stays with us.  It's like it stays there in our brain, in our conscience.

I can think of some computer metaphors:

1.) Bad emotions are like a memory that stays in our RAM.

2.) Bad emotions are like a computer worm that remains in the RAM.

. . . Maybe the Seven deadly sins could be thought of as thought worms:  Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride . . . or emotions like Anger and Fear

3.) Bad emotions are like a web page that has new information, but it has not been Refreshed.

Why does it stay there, and how to we get rid of it?

1.) Do a Restart - forget the event, and Read the Word of God

2.) Run your anti-virus program - Read the Word of God

3.) Click the Refresh button - Refresh to the Word of God

The main reason a bad memory stays there is that we're not *rooted* in the Word of God.

We don't have a rule, that God's Word is the most important information to know and remember.

Don't cling to bad memories and experiences.  Flush them out today.

Words are like the ski posts that you go through down a hill - they are like guides vs. not having guides.

Everyone has a different run, due to ability, strength, muscles, and experience . . .

The Exercise:

To "be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Ro 12:2) and to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2Co 10:5)

1.) Think and speak these truths throughout the day

2.) See, hear, and sense Jesus saying these truths to you

3.) Visualize what you look like when you manifest these truths, especially in the context of where you tend to manifest your "old self"

4.) Copy and paste them from the xls file into the reminder software of your cell phone, desktop calendar software, or PDA, to be reminded of at least one of them per day

5.) Give more authority to the Word of God than to your own thoughts

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." (Heb 4:12)

Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need . . . . . Heb 4:16

And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will . . . . . 2 Tim 2:24-26
