Young people who grow up thinking there is a "gay community" will be sorely disappointed. Surely one of the major attractions of homosexuality for today's alienated youth is the idea of community and acceptance.
The "gay community" is a political contrivance that is falsely amplified by including bisexuals, pansexuals, people with genetic and physiological defects that result in ambiguous genitalia, and people who have themselves surgically altered so their body with comport with their delusions. Translators have stuck to that word out of stubbornness mostly. What if you call somebody meek today? Would they thank you?
Jesus blessed the meek! We despise them. What has happened? The word has changed. What once meant a lack of haughtiness, now means a vacillating weakness. A 98 pound weakling, mild, harmless ineffectual people.

What the Bible was saying was to bow ones knee to God. The surrender of one's self to God's will. The abdication of self rule and replace it with Gods rule.
So let's look in the Bible for examples. There are two. One in the Old Testament, and one in the New Testament.
The Bible describes one of these men as "Very meek, more than all men that were on the face of the earth." He was raised rich and powerful, but was prone to fits of anger, and once killed a man with his bare fists. He ordered hundreds of people put to death. This just doesn't sound like a 98 pound weakling. His meekness was embodied when he was 80 years old, and involved a burning bush.
Interchange between God and Moses. "Not My will but thine be done!" Read Exodus 3 & 4 to brush up on Moses.
Now the other fellow calls himself meek. He was forceful and opinionated. He demanded obedience of his followers. He took on the religious and political powers of the day. Again, not a 98 pound weakling.

We can now understand meekness by looking from Moses to Christ to see how they embodied meekness.

The beatitudes are an instruction manual, meant to be taken in order. The first four show us how to behave toward God, and the last four teach us how to act with each other.

To overcome a hurt from others, I think it helps to make sure that we have a correct understanding of the kind of world we're living in.
As Christians, we seek to do what God wants by reading His Word, the Bible. This would include the 10 Commandments / Love God first, and your neighbor as yourself. To know the 10 Commandments, and seek to do what they say, makes you a unique individual (A rare person, indeed - particularly since they removed prayer and Bible reading from the public schools - I would like to see that re-instated, along with having the 10 Commandments posted everywhere).
Unsaved people have no regard for this. They have no regard for words. They think it's ridiculous to be constrained by such thinking. In fact, they might even be mismatchers, and would automatically want to do the opposite of what they say.
Or, like it is in some video games, the unsaved individual might be thought of as someone who has it set on "God mode" - he has no regard for the the will of God, and His Word, only his own will.

Gays say that there would be no effect on society from gay marriage, and from teaching that gay is ok - but this is false. Why?
1.) People might try it, and like it, and go that route - then they're corrupted and stuck
2.) Kids are impressionable, and easily corrupted - they would not want to go this route, but they have no filters
3.) You can shape a kid into anything, like how Muslims teach their kids to hate Jews
Gays and feminists come in the church and want to alter God's rules, and the chain of command that He said to do. They don't want "equality," they want superiority. There can't be "equality."
If they can't get what they want, their secondary goal is to just create chaos, as agents of Satan.
